This is an awesome pre-formatted list, in fact, it’s The Ultimatest.

Below are the best pre-formatted grocery lists ever created. I made them just for you—and they’re free. Print ’em out, hang ’em on the refrigerator door and mark ’em up before you go to the grocery store. We have comprehensive versions for both meat-eaters and vegetabletarians. Links are below.

And now there are fully-editable PDF and spreadsheet versions of the Deluxe list. That means that if you don’t have pets or kids, for example, you can edit those sections to be something else. If an item wasn’t on my pre-formatted list, now you can add it then print it out. How awesome is that? No customer support is offered. If you want to permanently edit the customizable PDF file you will need to buy Adobe Acrobat. Otherwise, edit it as you need then print it a bunch of copies. Enjoy.

User-made versions

Sometimes people send me their own versions or edits of these lists. I figured I’d start sharing them here, although most are buried in years of email. Send yours!

Hi Bill,
I remade your spreadsheet to work at my grocery store in Bright’s Grove, Ontario, Canada. I hope that’s okay and I have attached it for you to share. I added the aisle numbers or the store area where the item is found.

  1. This is awesome but, I have a request! PLEASE add waffles to the frozen section. I know it says Breakfast but waffles are a force unto themselves and I buy them regularly. Other than that tiny tweak I am loving this list!

  2. My fiance & I are moving into our 1st place in less than a month. We’ve never lived on our own before… finding this grocery list is a blessing and I am sure it’ll make our 1st grocery trip much easier ;o)

  3. okay so……is there a problem w/my computer or sumthin??? it always tells me that the file has ‘been permanently damaged and cannot be repaired’. I’ve tried downloading it 5 times but it never works (i have acrobat reader although)(little help here)

  4. For MS Word: Click the “File” dropdown menu. Select “Save As”. Choose “Microsoft Word Document (.doc)” from the “Save As Type” menu.

For Black and White: Click “File”, and select “Print”. Change your printer setting to “Black and White” or “Grayscale”.

    This isn’t rocket surgery.

Download Firefox web browser. Click the “Tools” dropdown menu and select “Options…”. Click the “Applications” tab. Scroll down the list until you see “Adobe Acrobat Forms Document”. In the column to the right of that, select “Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)”.

This will open PDF docs in your web browser. Then you can click the “Save a Copy” button to save it to your computer.

  6. The “Ultimatist Grocery List” is one of the nicesest things I came across in a longestest time! It the most completetest list and I can only see a lot of possibilities for it! Thank U very much!!
    I love your humor!!

  7. I am going to post this on my blog and share with other Mommies about this great list! I am going to print it out and start using it this week – thank you! And I would be excited to see your junk food and healthy good lists as well! Thanks!

  8. I devised a grocery list 2-3 years ago from my grocery receipts, which in turn lists those products that we acually use. I add/delete from time-to-time as our tastes change. We are now retired and my husband decided he would go to the grocery with me, so I print out the list in two pages based on aisle numbers. He takes one page and starts at one end of the store and I take one and start at the other. We pretty much cut the shopping time in half.

  9. We love your grocery lists! We aren’t vegetarians but we love the vegetarian grocery list because we cook organic foods. :)
    Thanks!
